Pastor Roland Hendricks' Biography
Elder Roland K. Hendricks serves as Pastor of the Greater Mount Zion Church in Brazoria, Texas. He was born the third child of Thomas and Sadie Hendricks in Sweeny, Texas. He graduated from Sweeny High School in 1976. He graduated from Wharton County Junior College in Wharton, Texas with an Associate of Arts in Business in 1978. In 1980, he graduated from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting.
In 1980, he began his career with The Dow Chemical Company in the Controllers Department in Freeport, Texas. While in Freeport, he held several positions in accounting as well as supervision. In 1994, he transferred to Dow's headquarters in Midland, Michigan where he held several accounting, project and manager positions which afforded him the opportunity to travel throughout the United States, South America and Europe. In 2003, he transferred back to Freeport, Texas, where he serves as Texas Manufacturing Controller for Freeport, Seadrift, Deer Park and Houston Operations.
Since his early youth, Pastor Hendricks has been actively involved in the work of the church. He was a member of the Jerusalem Baptist Church in Brazoria under the leadership of the late Rev. E. S. Field. Under Rev. Fields leadership he served as a Deacon and the Minister of Music. In 1994, he moved to Michigan and became a member of Victorious Believers Ministries Church of God In Christ in Saginaw, Michigan, under the leadership of the late Bishop Marvin C. Pryor. Under Bishop Pryor's leadership, he served as Musician, Music Administrator, Trustee, Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, Co-chairman Kingdom Building Project and Director of Education & Empowerment Ministry. On the state level, he served as the Assistant Sunday School Superintendent of The Third Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Southwest Michigan COGIC.
After almost 20 years of receiving 'the call', Pastor Hendricks preached his first sermon in 1999. He became an Ordained Elder in 2001 after attending The Third Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Southwest Michigan Ordination Academy.
Pastor Hendricks has received numerous honors and awards. He is currently the Founder and President of Christian Empowerment Today, a board member of Communities in School, a board member of the TDECU, a board member of the Salvation Army of Brazoria County, a member of the Sam Houston State University College of Business Advisory Board, an honorary member of the Sam Houston State University Beta Alpha Psi Accounting Honors Fraternity, Kappa Mu Chapter and a Lifetime member of SHSU Alumni Association.
Pastor Hendricks has been married to Mrs. Jean Carter Hendricks for 28 year. They have two children who are saved: Ashlyn and Nicholas. Pastor Hendricks desire is to live, preach and teach the Word of God and to be a blessing to God's people on a regional and national level. We are "Going To The Next Level In Jesus".
